How Dark Is Your Soul?

Staring blackly ahead

Banging your head in to a wall

You’ve got the tarnished touch

to make it all ash is your goal

Sippin flasks to save you life

so you dive, you failure you’ll fall

No friends for worlds

Bells to toll. Remember that wall?

(There are no spirts to call)

It’s your chance to get good

Or get get dead. Qhere’s your wherewithal?

Will you give up and call in

Or fall into the sweet rhythm of it all

How dark is your soul?

Have you got hours to give or

even days to recall

Will you remember every step

and motion, you’ve made so far

Can you forge on up ahead

through the grey sands and black knights

Down that final flight of stairs

for one good more try

Will you light that flame a fire

Can you keep it lit all night

Will you take your time to grab your loot

Just to blow it all out

How dark is your soul?

This song captures the relentless spirit and existential undertones of Dark Souls, a testament to the power of will and determination in a game renowned for its difficulty. Drawing from the game's lore and my personal journey through its unforgiving world, the lyrics serve as a bard's tale, questioning the listener's resilience and readiness to face the challenges ahead.

"Banging your head into a wall" metaphorically reflects the game's punishing nature, where progress is often a result of learning from repeated failures. The "tarnished touch" alludes to the interconnected experiences of players who ventured into Dark Souls after playing Elden Ring, highlighting the communal path through FromSoftware's creations. The imagery of ash and the act of sipping flasks weave into the narrative themes of perseverance and the ephemeral nature of existence, where every effort, even in vain, shapes the journey.

The song delves into the solitude of the Dark Souls experience, contrasting with the communal aspects of Elden Ring, emphasizing the solitary battle against adversity where one must "get good or get dead." The mention of "bells to toll" symbolizes significant milestones within the game, urging the player to press on despite the odds. The "sweet rhythm of it all" reflects the necessity to adapt and flow with the game's rhythm, turning the struggle into a dance of dodges and attacks.

Asking "How dark is your soul?" the song probes the player's moral compass and resilience in a world devoid of conventional victories, challenging one's commitment to the arduous journey. References to "grey sands and black knights" and the "final flight of stairs" evoke vivid images of the game's climactic moments, encapsulating the mood of desolation and the imminent confrontation with destiny.

The central theme of lighting and sustaining a flame resonates with the concepts of hope, perseverance, and the cyclical nature of the game's narrative, where the choice to prolong the fire or let it die out mirrors the existential choices faced by the player. Ultimately, the song is an ode to the Dark Souls experience, encapsulating the essence of its challenges, the depth of its lore, and the personal journey of every player who dares to traverse its dark and intricate world.

Yunalesca’s Luminescence

After beating Final Fantasy 10 as a grown man I was touched. The song is kind of a play by play of the story from Tidus’s perspective. It was alot of fun getting into the character’s headspace after so many hours of gameplay.

Then with the help of fiverr I was able to make these music videos.

By the way please check my fiverr link if you would like to collaborate with me!

Asked to write a Dungeons and Dragons podcast inro this is what I made!

This was touching project. A man lost his song a wanted a song he wrote lyrics to finished and recorded. I was honored to be a part and my heart goes out to the family

Sometimes people just a voice memo of melody for an idea of an a song and they want to finish it. This is one of those situations.

On the left you will hear the voice memo I recieved. On the right you will hear the song I wrong around it. The “melody” would be where the lyrics should be sang. The client was looking for a “kind of Disney Pop accompaniment” that they could take to a local studio and record their vocals over it.

A really interesting intro I did for a beats podcast.
